The Meerson Story & Timeline


2018 - A bespoke breakthrough_ The Mutiny Chronograph is introduced by Meerson at the beginning of the year. The true nature of the Mutiny Chronograph lays in the way you can personalise it. Traditional manufacturing processes are used to build watches around the tastes of clients, and transform a special timepiece into a meaningful heirloom.

2016 - Project Anna - Alexandre Meerson introduces an ambitious project, with the simple but formidable goal to create our collection of Women’s luxury watches and accessories. Named Project Anna.

2015 - The Altitude Officier, is debuted, along with the sports-inspired traveller's watch, the MEERSON D15 Mk-1 GMT. MEERSON watches can be found in department stores, around the world, for the first time.

2014 - Inauguration_ Alexandre Meerson’s Inaugural Collection, the Altitude Première, is presented. The Altitude is Meerson's interpretation of the Classic Dress Watch.

2007 - New beginnings_ Alexandre Meerson founds his studio in England and makes preparation to launch a watch brand under his name. From a boy by his father’s side, Alexandre developed his own identity, building on his family heritage of beauty and excellence as well as on 20 years of experience.

1993 - A Pause to the story_ Emerich Meerson retires. Under new stewardship, the Business overstretched itself and was weakened by its international expansion. The brand rights of Emerich Meerson were sold to Arthus Bertrand, subsequently owned by Hermes, who was unable to revive the spirit and style of Emerich Meerson watches, which had been so highly celebrated by the international market. The Brand became dormant.

1989 - The first Emerich Meerson boutiques outside of France open in Japan, as well as in the US through exclusive concessions.

1987 - Emerich introduces one of his most iconic pieces, the Automatic Chronograph, which is an instant success. It is also in this year that another generation of Meerson creativity arises, as Alexandre Meerson joins the company as an apprentice.

1984 - Meerson’s rapid expansion is evident, as his watches are now retailing beyond the two Parisian stores, in hundreds of retail locations worldwide.

1980 - The Meerson brand expands into Japan, as well as being commissioned by big names like Tiffany and Co., Mikimoto and H. Stern.

1975 - The Birth of a Brand. Emerich Meerson launches a brand under his own name which is rapidly snatched up by the international market, with his watches being stocked in both independent and department stores around the globe. The "Week-End" collection is an instant success.

1967 - Emerich signs his first export contracts, and his extensive press coverage in Europe and the US leads to a launch in the USA and Germany.

1966 - Emerich’s first watch collection is presented in Paris, where they gain international acclaim and a reputation for effortless elegance.

1952 - Emerich Meerson designs his first pieces for his family’s jewellery business in the heart of Paris.
